what does a service engineer do?

Companies are looking to create new value stores by providing customers with unified product service solutions, evolving from "real product" management to the Product Service System (PSS) approach. In this context, Service Engineering (SE), the discipline involved in the systematic development and design of product services, is becoming a key area. Most of the Service Engineering models, methods and tools available range from traditional engineering, industrial and computer engineering methods to the Service System or Product Service System. To fill this gap, this paper proposes a Service Engineering framework that integrates a product service design modeling tool developed at Tokyo Metropolitan University with a unique event simulation benchmark, enabling comparison between different PSS configurations and the evaluation of internal and customer performance. An example case is reported to better clarify the different implementation phases of the framework.
