What is system software

The operating system software is a type of computer program used to operate computer programs and applications. If we think of computer systems as an example, the software is a bridge between hardware and software. The operating system (OS) is the most common example of operating system software. The operating system is responsible for all other programs on the processer.
Other examples of system software are:

• The BIOS (Basic Input / Output System) starts the computer system after you have activated and managed the data flow between operating systems and installed devices such as hard disks, video adapters, keyboards, mice, and printers.
• The start program opens the operating system for the main memory of the computer or the main memory (RAM) of the network.
• Assembly accepts basic computer instructions and converts them into computer processors with which basic operations can be performed.
• Driver drivers control certain types of devices installed on a computer, such as B. a keyboard or a mouse. The driver program converts more general input/output instructions from the operating system to a device-type message.
Additionally, system software can also include system utilities, such as the disk defragmenter and System Restore, and development tools, such as compilers and debuggers.
System software and application programs are the two main types of computer software. Unlike system software, an application program (often just called an application or app) performs a particular function for the user. Examples include browsers, email clients, word processors , and spreadsheets.
